Kai Ludwig has been extensively active in international and national sports law as well as association and federation law for more than 12 years. He is preferably active in football (employment-, disciplinary- and transfer-related matters). His core competence is advising professional football players, coaches, managers, intermediaries, sports clubs, sports federations and commercial and media rights distributors, who he also represents in all proceedings before arbitration tribunals (e.g. FIFA and UEFA Dispute Resolution Bodies, Court of Arbitration for Sports, Swiss Chambers' Arbitration Institution etc.) and ordinary courts.
One of Kai's specialities are complex employment law matters. In recent years, he has been involved in a large number of prominent labour law proceedings and enjoys an excellent reputation among professional football players, coaches, managers, clubs and intermediaries as a tough but always fair and solution-oriented negotiator. His profile is rounded off by his proven skills and experience regarding the enforcement of his clients claims before ordinary courts, including seizure of assets of debtors.
After having studied law in Jena (GER) and Cork (IRL) and worked on a development project in Quito (ECU), Kai has been employed at the German Embassy in Berne and subsequently served as court officer at the Cantonal Court of the Swiss Canton Schwyz, before he joined Scherrer Jenny & Partner, a major Swiss sports law boutique in 2007. For two years he served also as CEO of the FIFA subsidiary Early Warning System in Zurich.
As an Attorney admitted to both the Zurich and Munich Bar, Kai is authorised to represent our clients not only before all Swiss courts, but also before all local, regional and higher regional courts in Germany.
Kai is Vice President and Board Member of the German-Swiss Society of Sports Law (“Deutsch-Schweizerische Gesellschaft für SportRecht”), Member of the Swiss Sports Law Association (“Association Suisse de Droit du Sport”), Member of the German Bar Association, Munich Bar Association and the working group on sports law of the German Bar Association.
